Bricks chew up lots of carbon, concrete is notoriously bad, but stone cladding can be green and cheaper than other options. How can a stone wall panel have a comparable cladding price to brick veneer? Stone blocks are heavy so how can you take them to market without burning lots of fuel?
Ecobuild’s technologically innovative wall panelling is changing the economics of cladding prices and altering peoples view of what is possible with cladding houses with green building materials.
Using a patent pending cladding system, that is rapidly being adapted around the world, Ecobuild manufacturers real stone panels designed to clad homes with style, with energy efficiency, and without the traditional stone cladding price tag.
How can a stone cladding solution deliver so much?
Stone cladding can have a lower cladding price than brick veneer or concrete finishes if you apply some simple principles to building.
Building costs are driven by the cost of raw materials, the cost of transport, the cost of labour and support, and the time taken to build.
The problem with traditional cladding methods is that most cladding approaches require heavy materials, then to clad houses requires wet trades (for cement) and specialist trades like bricklayers.
Stone has never been considered as an alternative to other wall cladding approaches because it is heavy, and requires specialist site support and specialists trades like stonemasons. But that thinking has changed forever.
Ecobuild solutions has fundamentally changed the thinking on how natural stone can be used as a building material. Using a manufacturing process that slices real stone into 10mm sheets, Ecobuild uses a bonding technique to fix the stone to an insulated panel. That panel is strong and lightweight and comes with a simple to use fixing system.
The principle is simple. Make real stone light and easy to install, so any carpenter worth his salt could put it up and clad a house. Develop a cladding fixing method that requires no wet trades. Take out material cost, lower transport cost, lower installation costs, lower trade and support costs, but develop a stunning wall panel that is real stone.
How to make stone easy to install without the requirement for a stone mason.
Ecobuild makes Real stone panels with a hard but lightweight XPS panel. That panel is grooved to allow the panel to be clad using our easyfix cladding system.
This cladding system means a range of trades can install it which means you don’t have to rely on specialist stone trades to clad your house in stone.
The easyfix system can clad a house without wet trades. The rails can be fixed to steel buildings, concrete structures, or wood frame buildings.
This approach to wall cladding is faster without the need for heavy stone masonry infrastructure. Generating a faster wall cladding approach installation simplicity means lower construction costs, lower support costs, faster completion times, and a greener outcome.
How to make a stone wall greener than a brick wall
Brick walls are dirty messy installations, and brick making is worse. Imagine cladding a wall and not using cement or water. Imagine using stone that is quarried out of the ground, rather than bricks burned in a furnace. Imagine building a wall out of stone and doing a favour for the environment.
Ecobuild makes real stone panels that are not burned in a furnace. Our stone comes out of the ground – mother nature has already created this excellent building material for us.
The panels are lightweight and this is achieved by slicing the stone into panels and bonding them to an XPS panel to the back of the stone. This makes the stone go further and we use less stone resource to clad a house with stone.
The panel is also an insulation barrier made of a material called XPS. Our XPS is made with a low heat technique, no volatile compounds and no harmful HFC’s. The insulation is a real bonus because it reduces energy consumption through the life of the home, reducing carbon emissions.
Further XPS is much better to the environment compared to glass fibre insulation which is made in a furnace and has a relatively high carbon manufacturing footprint.
Our wall panels are also lightweight and so they consume much less energy than other heavier cladding systems through the transport supply chain.
A breakthrough innovation that is also building code compliant
Ecobuild’s stone cladding solutions are compliant with Australian standards. Our wall panels are tested to Australian standards and are fire tested, tested for cyclonic conditions, tested for heat moisture and cold, durability and strength.
Going beyond the standards we also test the stone we use in our wall panels for a range of features that will make the cladding safe and durable to live in.
Stone cladding delivers style and capital growth
Stone cladding is synonymous with style, longevity, and character. Stone clad houses are more desirable to live in, look at, and generally demand a price premium to homes clad in brick or other composite materials.
Green buildings are becoming synonymous with social responsibility and sound judgment. Wall cladding solutions that save energy costs is not only good for your wallet it is good for the children we have growing up in the homes we are building.
At Ecobuild solutions we believe that cladding homes in a stone panel that is also a highly effective insulation panel, will add tremendous appeal and value to the biggest investment most people make – their homes.
We are seeking to share our vision for building with carpenters builders home renovators or extenders who are interested in building greener, building better, and building with more style and character. We think cladding a home should be an experience that is not only cost effective now, but will deliver value while you live in the home and when you sell the home.
Cladding a home with stone panels just got really exciting.
